[2014.05.02] DELETE MY LOVE SELLS ITS HOLLYWOD REMAKE RIGHTS

The Wong Cho Nam, Ivana Wong Yuen Chi, and Michael Hui Koon Man starred, Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) directed, Stephen Shiu Jr. invested film DELETE MY LOVE (DELETE OI YUN) had a fresh subject. Reportedly Hollywood film company Nu Image earlier sent a representative to attend the Hong Kong FILMART event and watched a secret screening. In the end the film company offered Stephen Shiu Jr US$500,000 for the Hollywood remake right. After months in negotiation they finally came to an agreement. The soonest it will start production will be next year.

Reportedly the film company was interested in top U.S. comedy star Ben Stiller to play Cho Nam's character while Oscar Best Actor Jack Nicholson will play Hui Koon Man's character. Stephen Shiu Jr. admitted, "I can't reveal how much the rights sold for. Of course if Ben Stiller and Jack Nicholson will really star, we of course have no objection. During the negotiation we focused on how much of the script will be changed? How much budget they would have to make it? They will a comedy director of a certain caliber to direct." Cho Nam said, "It's great, they should ask me to perform too. If Ben Stiller will really play my character, I would be very honored."
