This year's Cannes Film Festival will open May 11. Although this year the only Chinese film that has been invited to participate was Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo)'s new film WU XIA, Chinese people will still play an important role as the event yesterday announced Johnnie To Kei Fung and Shi Nansun as jury members.

Cannes invited two Hong Kong representatives to be on the jury. Earlier working on his film in Shangri-La, Yunnan, To Kei Fung will stop work for two week. Shi Nansun who served on a Berlin Film Festival jury happily said, "Two weeks that I don't have to think and just watch movies in, it counts as a type of enjoyment."

Vonnie Lui Hoi Yan who was under suspicion for using a double for her topless scenes in SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (YUK PO TUEN ji GIK LOK BO GAM) caught a French film company's eyes and was invited to promote during the Cannes Film Festival with her co-stars.

According to online news, SEX on its opening days already had over 100,000 downloads and crashed the server.

Tsui Hark's new film FLYING SWORD OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) also planned to host a party on the 15th to begin its promotion. Shi Nansun said, "Because investor Polybona just went public in the U.S. last year, it wanted to give everyone the good news during such a large scale international film festival."
